Transparency of tax information
In Finland, certain tax details are public information, and anyone can ask to see anyone else’s tax information. This information can be useful in pay negotiations, for example, even though tax information is not directly indicative of anyone’s pay as such. Public tax information is also covered by the media – especially on “Tax Day” in November. The legal provisions that allow this information to be publicly available are intended to promote openness and public discussion on taxation, income and wages.
