The Finnish Defence Forces and peacekeepers

The Finnish military is called the Finnish Defence Forces. In Finland, men complete either armed or unarmed military service. Women can apply for military service on a voluntary basis. Military service lasts 6, 9 or 12 months. Finland also takes part in UN peacekeeping operations.
